Job Description Job Description About the Role We are seeking an Assistant In-House Counsel (Employment Law) to join our legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to transition from private practice into an in-house role while remaining actively involved in employment litigation, compliance, and risk management matters. The ideal candidate will have experience handling California employment litigation , including wage and hour claims, PAGA matters, FEHA claims, employment class actions, and other employment-related disputes . This role will partner closely with Senior In-House Counsel, Human Resources, and business leaders on high-impact legal matters that affect the organization. Please Note: This position is fully onsite and requires in-person attendance five days per week. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available. Key Responsibilities Assist with a wide range of employment litigation matters, including: Wage and hour claims PAGA matters Employment class actions FEHA claims Wrongful termination and discrimination matters Partner with Senior In-House Counsel on litigation strategy, investigations, and risk assessments. Manage outside counsel and oversee litigation budgets, case progress, and outcomes. Respond to agency inquiries and administrative claims, including matters involving: DLSE CRD (formerly DFEH) EEOC Conduct workplace investigations and provide practical legal guidance on employee relations matters. Review, draft, and update employee handbooks, employment agreements, policies, and related HR documentation. Advise Human Resources and operational leadership on California labor and employment law compliance. Conduct legal research and provide recommendations regarding changes and developments in employment law. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) required. Active California Bar membership required. 2 to 6 years of employment litigation experience required. Experience with one or more of the following: Wage and hour litigation PAGA matters Employment class actions FEHA litigation Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. Experience working directly with clients, HR professionals, or business stakeholders.
