Workers' Compensation Specialist

Compensation Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 DOE plus benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401K with match, PTO + holidays) About the Role LHH Recruitment is partnering with a large organization in the Portland area to identify a skilled Workers’ Compensation Specialist to join their team onsite. This role will be responsible for managing a high volume of workers’ compensation claims, ensuring compliance, and supporting employees through the claims process. The ideal candidate brings strong multi-state experience and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and workplace safety. Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims, including intake, investigation, coordination, and resolution Oversee a high volume caseload, ensuring timely and accurate claim processing Collaborate with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, medical providers, and internal stakeholders Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local workers’ compensation laws and regulations Monitor claim trends and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve outcomes Support return-to-work programs and coordinate modified duty assignments Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to claims activity Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding workers’ compensation questions and processes Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of experience managing high-volume workers’ compensation claims Experience handling claims in a multi-state environment strongly preferred Strong understanding of workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and best practices Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and relationship-building skills High attention to detail and strong organizational skills High School Diploma or equivalent required Preferred Qualifications Experience developing or supporting workplace safety and injury prevention programs Background working within corporate HR, risk management, or a similar function Experience partnering with cross-functional teams in a mid-to-large size organization Bachelors Degree or other further education Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
