$75,000 - $90,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications) Full-Time | Exempt Design the Future of Robotics Automation NACHI America Inc is seeking a talented Mechanical Designer / Systems Engineer to join our System Engineering team in Novi, Michigan in our Robotics Division. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical designer who enjoys developing innovative automation solutions, collaborating with customers, and bringing complex robotic systems from concept to reality. As a key member of our engineering team, you will create and refine mechanical designs for robotic automation applications, support system integration efforts, and work directly with customers, vendors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. What You'll Do Generate and modify mechanical designs and detailed drawings for robotic automation systems. Develop concepts, layouts, and mechanical solutions for customer applications. Analyze, verify, and improve manufacturing processes utilizing robotics and automation technologies. Work closely with engineers, customers, and vendors to define requirements and verify design specifications. Support manufacturing and assembly teams by clarifying designs and resolving technical issues during system build. Assist Sales and Proposal teams with conceptual layouts and technical recommendations. Participate in customer meetings, system reviews, installations, and troubleshooting activities. Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines and quality expectations. Complete special projects and engineering assignments as required. Qualifications Required Associate's degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. CAD/CAM training or equivalent industry experience. Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience , preferably in automation, robotics, or industrial equipment. Strong proficiency with computer-aided design software and advanced PC applications. Knowledge of mechanical assemblies, machine design principles, and material properties. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Strong communication and customer service skills. Willingness to travel to customer sites for meetings, installations, and problem resolution. Preferred Experience in robotic automation or industrial manufacturing environments. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD platforms. Experience with robot simulation software. Understanding of reliability and maintainability principles. Knowledge of FMEA, risk analysis, machine safety, and RIA standards. Familiarity with robotic operations and programming. Why Join NACHI?
