About the Position

Job Title: RN II - MST / Medical Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days (every other weekend, days, first to float) Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: • Must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract. • Minimum of 1 year in MedSurg experience; preferred candidates with telemetry experience. • Ability to read and interpret telemetry. • Willingness to care for both Medical Surgical and Progressive Care Unit patients. Description: The unit has 30 beds divided into three 10-bed units. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include surgical cases such as total hip and knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, and exploratory laparoscopy. Medical cases include MRSA, C. diff infections, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, and COVID-19. Telemetry is utilized for patients experiencing chest pain. Charge Nurse manages 50 inpatient beds, which include Medical Surgical, Pediatric, and Multi-Care Unit patients. Nurse Aides handle 10-15 patients; if no Aide is available, the nurse will manage 3 patients and provide primary care. Care for stable C-PAP or Bi-PAP patients is expected. Remote Monitor Technicians are available, but RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips. 12-hour shifts are scheduled from 0700 to 1900 and 1930 to 0730. Weekend requirements include every other weekend and holiday rotations that distribute holidays fairly. In case of low census, staff rotates standby turns; travelers may or may not be included in this rotation. Floating requirements include multi-care and pediatric units to care for adult Medical Surgical patients. Scrub colors are flexible, excluding camouflage. Orientation includes hospital and unit specifics based on experience. Nurses may be required to precept nursing students. Cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per contract and 3 shifts for contracts under 13 weeks. Charting uses Cerner.
