Job Description

This part-time Clinical Research Coordinator role supports a Crohn's disease clinical trial at a dedicated research site in Murrieta, CA. You will focus on identifying and recruiting eligible participants, educating them about the study, and supporting their engagement and compliance throughout the trial. The position requires strong clinical research experience, excellent organizational skills, and confident communication with both participants and research staff, averaging approximately 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Review electronic medical records (EMR) to identify potential participants and assess them against protocol-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria.
• Conduct detailed pre-screening of potential participants to determine eligibility in accordance with the study protocol.
• Recruit and enroll participants into the clinical trial while strictly following study protocols and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Provide clear, thorough education to participants about the clinical trial, including study procedures, expectations, risks, benefits, and follow-up requirements.
• Conduct follow-up communications with participants to support retention, answer questions, and ensure ongoing adherence to the study protocol.
• Schedule in-person visits and follow-up appointments, ensuring participants receive timely reminders and all relevant information.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of chart reviews, pre-screening activities, recruitment efforts, and participant interactions within the EMR and study records.
• Engage in community outreach activities to raise awareness of the clinical trial and support participant recruitment efforts.
• Collaborate with research staff and site personnel to ensure smooth study operations and high-quality data collection.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
• At least 2 years of experience in patient recruitment for clinical research studies or clinical trials.
• At least 2 years of experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) for chart review and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct chart reviews and pre-screen patients against protocol-defined eligibility criteria.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple participants, visits, and documentation requirements simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to confidently educate and engage participants and interact with research staff.
• Training in HIPAA regulations to ensure protection of participant privacy and confidentiality.
• Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) to ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards in clinical research.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supporting clinical trials focused on gastrointestinal conditions, such as Crohn's disease, is beneficial.
• Experience in community outreach or patient-facing roles that involve education and engagement is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced research environment with time-sensitive tasks and competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation, scheduling, and protocol adherence.

Work Environment

This is a part-time, on-site role in Murrieta, CA, averaging approximately 20 hours per week during normal business hours. The environment is fast-paced and detail-oriented, centered around a clinical research setting focused on a Crohn's disease clinical trial. You will work extensively with electronic medical records (EMR) and study documentation systems, interacting frequently with participants and research staff. The role requires consistent focus, accuracy, and professionalism in a structured clinical environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Murrieta, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
