Education Interpreter I/II

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs highly specialized language interpretation and translation services for students and staff in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHOH) program; serves as a member of the educational team. Position is part-time, in-person, and has a work year of 11 months, 192 days, 5 days a week, 6 hours per day. PART TIME POSITION REQUIRES SIGN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY. To learn more about the EducationInterpreter I/II, EDUCATION INTERPRETER I: Any combination equivalent to: High school diploma or equivalent, sufficient related experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above, possession of an education interpreter waiver issued by the California State Board of Education. EDUCATION INTERPRETER II: Any combination equivalent to: High school diploma or equivalent, sufficient related experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above, and possession of a certification issued by RID or have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or equivalent assessment. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS A passing score on a proficiency examination for reading, writing and mathematics skills test of the County Office of Education. EXAMINATION PROCEDURES: Assessments and interviews may take place virtually or in-person. Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated. The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts at a date to be determined. Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their Schooljobs.com applications, or as updated by candidates in their Governmentjobs.com master profiles. Candidates who test successfully for placement on the eligibility list may be certified to other related positions without further testing requirements, OR job posting announcements.
