LPN - urological diagnostic testing

Position Summary The Urodynamics Specialist at Associated Medical Professionals of NY (AMP) manages the Urodynamics procedural area and assists the physician in the analyzation of symptoms and problems with the urinary tract through testing of bladder function. The role involves performing specialized investigative techniques using advanced urodynamic equipment on patients with genitourinary problems to study, record, and assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of urological disorders. The position provides specialty‑nursing patient care in an environment where quality, respect, and compassion are central. Essential Functions – Administrative • Performs UDS across the AMP offices, primarily in the Syracuse office.• Directs patient scheduling and greets patients and visitors.• Schedules appointments and procedural tests in the EMR under medical staff direction.• Stocks, orders, and inspects medical supplies; maintains accurate inventories.• Keeps work area neat, sets up examination rooms, cleans equipment, and ensures equipment has current biomedical inspection stickers.• Prepares patients for testing, providing compassionate care.• Completes required training and in‑services, including OSHA training, and participates in ongoing educational activities.• Assists with training clinical support staff to perform UDS.• Travel may be required for scheduling needs across the organization; compensation is provided for travel between office locations during the workday.• Performs all other duties as assigned. Essential Functions – Clinical • Properly identifies patients by name and birthdate, greets them, and escorts them to the clinical area.• Assists with placing personal belongings in the exam room, updates the EMR record, obtains weight, vital signs, and medication list.• Explains the urodynamic procedure, operates the equipment using aseptic technique, and performs specialized bladder function tests.• Collects data, specimens, or printed results for provider interpretation.• Administers urinary catheterizations, drainage tube irrigations, and medication as needed within scope of practice.• Reinforces post‑procedure care instructions and limitations.• Performs indwelling catheter placement and exchanges, straight catheterization, and emails reports.• Collaborates with the team and other disciplines to develop solutions for patient problems.• Sets up necessary machines for urinary flow rate, cystometrograms, pressure flow studies, urethral pressure profile, and EMG of pelvic floor.• Maintains EMR records of all urodynamic studies and documents nursing interventions.• Reports any adverse events. Education / Licensure / Experience • Current New York State LPN or RN licensure required.• Minimum of 2 years Urology or GYN nursing experience preferred.• Current CPR certification required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Knowledge of current principles of nursing practice and patient care charts.• Ability to prepare and process laboratory samples following established protocols.• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; works effectively with diverse communities.• Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments with attention to detail.• Knowledge of health care field, medical office protocols, and infection control standards.• Basic PC skills including word processing and EMR system use.
