Position Summary Location: Geisinger Lewistown Hospital (GLH) Shift: Rotation (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Worker Type: Regular Exemption Status: No Job Summary Geisinger offers a Nursing Assistant a $1,500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, nights, and weekend shifts. Up to $40,000 in financial support may be available to become a licensed nurse. Responsibilities Perform a wide range of clerical duties and direct patient care activities to support the unit. Provide patient care as directed by the licensed nurse within the nursing assistant scope of practice, ensuring the multidisciplinary care plan is followed. Observe, document, and report the physical needs and changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner. Obtain and maintain specimen integrity per policy and physician order. Assist patients with activities of daily living, provide one‑to‑one patient safety watch, and participate in safety improvement and management programs. Solve problems, troubleshoot equipment and supplies, and take corrective actions. Serve as preceptor and mentor for new staff and students. Conduct clerical tasks for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths, and facilitate patient throughput activities. Transcribe and process orders, release and confirm ordered tests, and coordinate patient transportation to multiple tests. Communicate patient‑related information promptly to the care team and assist with ordering supplies. Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment, manage scheduling maintenance of computers, fax machines, and phones. Obtain and communicate electronic information pertinent to the nursing unit. Transport non‑controlled medications and blood products as needed within the unit and to/from Pharmacy or Blood Bank. Work primarily in an office environment while complying with all organizational policies and procedures.
