Dental Assistant

Job purposeDental assistants greatly increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of quality oralhealth care and are valuable members of the dental care team. Lead Dental Assistants must have strong leadership skills and emotional intelligence and are expected to train lower-level dental assistants within the clinic.Duties and responsibilitiesAssisting the dentist during a variety of treatment proceduresTaking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)Preparing examination and surgical rooms by sterilizing instruments and movingequipment into placePreventing the spread of infection and disease by maintaining a surgically clean workenvironmentHelping patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatmentProviding patients with instructions for oral care following treatmentTeaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;(e.g., tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling)Taking impressions of patient's teeth for study casts (models of teeth)Create, send, and track lab casesMonitor, order, and maintain budget for dental suppliesPerforming office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computerAssisting in updating and maintaining client dental records/chartsMaintaining equipment and coordinating any necessary repairsAsking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse asneededProviding support to dentists and other staff as neededMaintaining OSHA and HIPPA complianceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBasic Life Support Certification requiredState Dental Assistant license requiredExpanded functions requiredRadiationCoronal Polishing / Topical FluorideSealantsNitrous OxideParenteral / Pediatric AnesthesiaOral Maxillofacial SurgeryWorking conditionsDental practices run at a fast pace and dental assistants will be required to keep up with the flowof doctors and patients.Physical requirementsDental Assistants will be required to:Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.Repeat the same movements.Bend or twist their body.Sit for long periods.Stand for long periods.Lifting up to 50 poundsReports to: ADO / Office ManagerDirect reports: None. #J-18808-Ljbffr Enhance-Dental
