Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a PICU/NICU weekends-only assignment at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring RRT certification and pediatric critical care experience.

Details

• Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching and Magnet-designated hospital with 323 inpatient beds including a 70-bed NICU
• Assigned to the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics PICU unit
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekends-only position, working every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Float within scope to NICU/PICU/CICU across all ages, no floating to sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• RRT certification required
• BLS and PALS certifications required prior to start
• NRP certification preferred
• DC RRT license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, 3+ years recent experience strongly preferred for first-time travelers
• NICU/PICU experience preferred
• Pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator
• Skilled in airway management, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BIPAP
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience with medication administration including inhaled and nebulized therapies

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care services within a pediatric critical care team in a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
• Work in a teaching and Magnet-designated hospital environment
• Complete pre-start training modules prior to orientation
• Scrubs must be solid color, logo-free, and child-friendly in style
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate with no mileage restriction
• Previous Children's National travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible for return
• First-time travelers considered with 3+ years of recent experience strongly preferred
