Medical Assistant (Lead)

Lead Medical Assistant Health is all about people where they live, learn, work and play. The Health and Social Services Department is currently recruiting for two full‑time positions. The current vacancies are in the Family Health Services and Behavioral Health Services Divisions. The mission of Family Health Services (FHS) is to provide superior, comprehensive, primary medical and dental care in order to improve the health and quality of life of Solano County residents. We have a special commitment to the uninsured, low‑income, and medically underserved. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we are a safety net provider. To support our mission, FHS offers four conveniently located clinics in Fairfield, Vacaville, and Vallejo and mobile medical and dental vans in which we provide primary care and dental services. The outpatient primary care clinics see patients five days a week, with some weekend and evening hours offered. Full family‑centered medical care Well child visits & immunizations STD/HIV testing & treatment Work/School/Sports physicals Women's health services Behavioral health care Diabetic screening & treatment Family centered dental care A Lead Medical Assistant is needed full time for the expansion of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and to guide the work assignments for all Medical Assistants within BH, coordinate with family health clinics and other FQHCs and primary care for integration of all related BH services. Key Responsibilities Provide support and training to Medical Assistants on clinical tasks including vital signs, ANC testing, coordinating lab services, EKGs, etc. Support Medical Assistants in coordinating services with other agencies to obtain information, determine appropriate venue, and provide cross‑training about client needs. Coordinate with physicians, caseworkers, community and support services, and appropriate primary care referral needs for clients upon transitions from services, jails, or hospitals. Conduct medical review of clients, facilitate appropriate referrals and transport clients as needed to promote service engagement. Serve as a liaison to emergency departments, county jail, local medical providers and internal clinics to assist clients to access MAT services. Assist with clinic flow, referral processing, and staffing. Perform all tasks associated with the Medical Assistant classification. Education and Experience One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to the County of Solano class of Medical Assistant. Licensing and Certification Requirements California Driver's License, Class C. Valid Medical Assistant certificate issued by an accredited college or institution with training in laboratory drawing of blood, venipuncture, injection administration, and performing EKGs/X‑ray procedures including chest X‑rays and extremities. Valid Phlebotomy Certificate. Valid CPR Certificate. Certifications from the following organizations do not meet our requirements for the medical assistant certificate: American Medical Association (AMA) California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA) National Healthcareer Association (NHA) COVID‑19 Vaccine Requirement Workers in health care settings must be vaccinated.
