Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)Location: Puyallup, WAGeneral Information:Level III Trauma Center375 Licensed Beds46 Specialty Beds (including 5 Safe Psych rooms and Fast Track areas)Average of 200 patients per dayMinimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience requiredFirst-time travel nurses welcomePatient Types:Comprehensive care: pediatrics to geriatricsCommon conditions: Trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID-19, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health issues, respiratory conditionsHigh acuity medical casesNotable geriatric population (falls, STEMI)Minor pediatric cases typically transferred to specialized facilitiesPatient Ratios:Day shift ratios: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients (flexible based on acuity and staffing)Required Certifications:BLS (Basic Life Support)ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)CPI/MOAB (Crisis Prevention Intervention / Management of Assaultive Behavior)Skills Required:General Emergency Department experience, including cardiac rhythm interpretationIV skills and administration of medicationsProficient in procedural sedation and blood administrationExperience with TNK administration preferredFamiliarity with cardiac medicationsRecent experience with the EPIC charting system is requiredSupport on the Unit:ER Technicians for glucose checks and additional supportAccess to 24/7 Respiratory TherapyDedicated Charge Nurse who typically does not take a patient assignmentResource/Float Nurse availableED Educator present for guidance and trainingSecurity and Social Work Services on-site 24/7Pharmacy support around-the-clock for medication managementCharting System and Equipment:EPIC (recent experience required)Alaris and Pyxis systemsTelemetry monitoring from both central and bedside locationsOrientation:Day one includes onboarding (NEO) and EPIC training if neededDay two consists of a full 12-hour shift with a preceptorTraveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed before startingScheduling:Open to 48-hour contractsShifts available include days/mids and mids/nightsScheduling is done week-by-week, but may be subject to change based on unit needsSchedules provided three weeks in advance and time-off requests must be approved by the Nurse ManagerTwo major holidays required out of five: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's DayOther Notes:Scrub color: Any professional color permittedPiercings: Modest/studs only; tattoos must be non-offensiveFree parking available in designated areasWelcoming culture for travelers; many extended contracts availableFast-paced and team-oriented environment
