Scheduler

Overview

The Regional Scheduler performs all aspects of scheduling, including daily, nightly, and weekend assignments, as defined by the specific needs of the platform and/or designated region and in compliance with the guidelines and directives issued by the Board of Directors and Scheduling Committee. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering incoming calls from physicians and staff, hospitals, surgery centers, and patients, entering data, and maintaining multiple databases.

***Candidates must be able to work a Sunday through Thursday schedule from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM and must currently reside within the Houston, Texas area.***

At this time, US Anesthesia Partners does not hire candidates residing in California, Hawaii, or Alaska.

The base pay estimate for this role is $19.95 - $31.92 hourly. The final offer will depend on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate. This range is for base pay only and does not include bonuses or other compensation. This position is eligible for a quarterly bonus. Bonuses are not guaranteed and are awarded based on company and individual performance.

Job Highlights

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation)

• Proficiently navigates the scheduling system, including case entry and reading of daily schedule.
• Sets the daily schedule, manages daily operations, enters and reviews cases, and communicating with providers, surgeons, and facilities, with minimal supervision.
• Completes daily summaries and check-outs independently.
• Communicates to the manager, physician leader, or regional coordinator if short on manpower or if issues arise when making the schedule.
• Performs call trades and swaps for providers independently.
• Manages and approves PTO requests.
• Posts all cases in accordance with platform-specific requirements.
• Coordinates the next day's schedule and all additions, emergencies, and schedule changes with the designated physician leader.
• Utilizes advanced understanding of call trades and swaps for providers.
• Ensures the region has sufficient staffing to cover all surgeries and maintains an up-to-date call rotation in collaboration with the physician scheduler.
• Maintains the master meeting calendar, provider call information for accounting, and provider vacation tracking information.
• Creates and manages the holiday call schedule.
• Trains all new scheduling employees as assigned by the scheduling manager/director.
• Maintains physician preferences and surgeon information in the scheduling software and communicates updates to the department.
• Writes and maintains scheduling policies and procedures as needed.
• Communicates with the regional coordinator, operations manager and leadership, scheduling chair, and CGB as needed.
• Maintains all department documents.
• Ensures adherence to policies and procedures and maintains the ability to explain rules and procedures.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1-3 years' related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of medical practices and terminology.
• Ability to self-manage and assist co-workers as needed.
• Previous surgery scheduling experience is preferred but not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to handle a large volume of phone and computer work.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work shifts varying daily per business demands; overtime may be required.
• Ability to travel locally (greater metropolitan area) for meetings, training, and customer service.
