Under general supervision, the Campus Shuttle Operator would be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of employees, students, or patients around the Medical District.

Job Responsibilities

• Transports employees, students, and visitors to MUSC and areas within the assigned area of operations. Boards and discharges passengers with concern and consideration safely and efficiently. Monitor vehicle performance on the road and immediately isolate and remedy issues that are within the normal scope of a vehicle operator's responsibility.
• Maintains administrative and operational logs including, but not limited to, inspection forms, mileage logs, passenger counts, accident/incident reports, and regular updates on mandatory training requirements.
• Communicates effectively with passengers and customers in a respectful way regarding transportation schedules and services. Maintains thorough work records while making timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
• Responsible for fueling and cleaning of the vehicle; mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing. Performs operator's pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as needed. Performed in all weather conditions consistent with safety.
• Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to substituting for other drivers, quick rides, of town travels (day trips).

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and one year experience in truck driving, operating a crane or operating a motor vehicle.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions in an upright position, seated position, while walking/mobile, climb stairs, work indoors, outdoors in all weather and temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, from kneeling positions, bend at the waist, twist at the waist, squat and perform job functions, perform 'pinching' operations, fully use both hands/arms, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, fully use both legs, reach in all directions, possess good finger dexterity, maintain tactile sensory functions, maintain good olfactory sensory function, lift and carry 15 lbs., unassisted, lift objects, up to 15 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted, lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted, push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted, maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes, see and recognize objects close at hand, see and recognize objects at a distance, match or discriminate between colors, determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception, good peripheral vision capabilities, maintain hearing acuity, with correction, hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet, perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, work in dusty areas, be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually, use hand/power tools.

Additional New Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy. Ability to work overtime as required.
