Position Summary Event Interns will engage in weekly calls discussing various venue managment topics.Internships are expected to be a 3-4 month (Summer) commitment. This allows the student to experience the venue through multiple event cycles. Internships are considered part time with a varied weekly schedule requiring an estimated 20-40 hours per week depending on events. Learning agenda will include all aspects of event management including advance, guest services, operations, administration, and parking. This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00. This role is expected to last from May 18th, 2026 and will end on August 21st, 2026. This position will remain open until June 26, 2026. About the Venue The Ford Idaho Center features a variety of flexible spaces to host events of all types and sizes. The Ford Idaho Center is a unique combination of three venues under one complex: Ford Idaho Center Arena, Ford Idaho Sports Center, and Ford Idaho Horse Park. The complex is flexible to meet the needs of events of all types and sizes. It is well-suited for conventions, meetings, tradeshows, sporting, social and entertainment events. Responsibilities Assist Event Managers during events at the Ford Idaho Center to ensure high level of guest satisfaction in all pertinent areas of event experience. Assists in the planning, assignments and direct workload for all Guest Services, Security, and Parking staff. Be present for majority of events that have part-time staff. Assist internal and external clients with event logistics and suggest the most effective ways to use the facility for specific types of functions. Help create work schedules for event and security staff, delegate assignments and review performance and results. Work with Event Managers to develop staffing plans, dot maps, deployment sheets, and any other associated pieces related to staffing. Engage and participate in weekly calls with OVG executives to learn about OVG and the sports and entertainment industry. Supervise part-time event and security staff on event days. Communicate in a timely fashion any/all problems and proposed solutions to Event Managers. Prepare event reports noting attendance, times, significant problems, etc. Interact with other facility staff in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients. All other duties as assigned by the Events Department. Key Learnings : End-to-End Event Operations Exposure - You'll get exposure to what goes into putting on live events, from planning ahead of time to making sure everything runs smoothly the day of. Build leadership and teamwork skills - You'll help manage and direct staff like guest services, security, and parking, learning how to lead a team and keep everyone organized. Work with clients and different teams - You'll communicate with event managers, staff, and clients, gaining experience in customer service and professional communication. Improve problem-solving in real time - When issues arise during events, you'll learn how to think quickly and help fix problems on the spot. Exposure to sports & entertainment - You'll learn how venues operate and get insight into the industry by working closely with experienced professionals. Qualifications Actively pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree at an accredited college or university, preferably in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Sport Management, Business, or related fields. Ability to take direction and execute independently. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs. Interest/Experience with live events is preferred but not required. Strengthened by our Differences.
