Paramedic

Paramedic Salary: $54,067 – $56,770 depending on qualifications, not including scheduled overtime. Shift: 24‑hour shifts inclusive of nights, weekends and holidays. Responsibilities: Operate an approved mobile medical unit and provide advanced emergency care, including life‑sustaining treatment on‑site and en route. Serve as medic in charge on calls; direct care and response as needed and mentor newer employees. Perform patient assessment, airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life support techniques in accordance with approved protocols. Use paralytic and sedative agents, execute surgical airway procedures, manual defibrillation, and other specialized interventions. Treat injuries to various parts of the body and assist in normal and abnormal childbirth. Lift, move, and extricate patients for transfer to medical facilities, following county protocols. Complete full patient care documentation during and after calls for service, including billing information and maintain legal accountability. Participate in continuous training to maintain certification and improve competency. Familiarize with street and road patterns to optimize response routes. Inspect and test response vehicles and emergency equipment; maintain proper inventory, clean, sanitize, and ensure equipment is in good working order. Assist with direction and control during disaster situations. Remain aware of normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including exposure to infectious diseases. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED plus education and experience equivalent to provide EMS services at the Paramedic level. Valid driver’s license for the state of residence. Certification by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic. Current CPR certification; ability to obtain ALS, ITLS, PHTLS, PALS, PEPP, or NRP.
