Maintenance Clerk

Responsibilities Provide entry‑level training and experience on assignments applying financial principles, procedures, processes, and regulations as part of the DFAS Recent Graduates Program. Examine incoming paperwork to verify required data entry information. Review output files, computerized listings or other records to ensure accuracy. Adjust records according to standardized rules, regulations, laws or procedures and perform basic arithmetic to verify calculations. Use office automation software (word processing, spreadsheets, email) to disseminate information. Respond to inquiries in person, in writing, or by telephone to internal and external customers concerning pay‑related issues, using rules and regulations. Perform developmental duties while operating below full performance level GS‑05. Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. citizen. Position may require access to classified information and a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Registered for Selective Service—males born after 12‑31‑1959. Suitability for federal employment. Obtain and maintain a Level 1 certification under the DoD Financial Management (FM) Certification Program within two years of entry. Qualifications Recent graduate with an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational or Technical degree/certificate within the past two years (or eligible veteran). One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑03 level, or two years of post‑secondary education for substitution. Demonstrated ability to perform duties requiring knowledge of financial principles and procedures. Background and security investigation required; may delay start date. Failure to obtain security clearance may result in termination. Telework availability is limited and will be provided on a rare, case‑by‑case basis.
