Represents the pinnacle of scientific expertise and leadership, driving innovative strategies, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and shaping organizational research priorities to address current and future challenges. Emphasis is on understanding a wide range of scientific technology and the creative application of a full range of literature-based and theoretical concepts, over a diverse range of chemistry, to the design and implementation of cost-effective processes for the manufacture of the Corden's pharmaceuticals and contract business products.

Responsible for providing strong technical and scientific support to technical staff. Liaison to academic contacts. Liaison between Development and other departments when technical issues arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Develops and drives the scientific vision for Corden, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic goals
• Identifies emerging technologies and integrates them to solve critical business challenges
• Advises executive leadership on research prioritization and portfolio optimization
• Mentors scientists and leads initiatives to elevate the overall scientific acumen of Corden Pharma
• Drives broad as well as project-specific innovation and ensures timely delivery of scientific solutions
• Submits patents, presents at scientific conferences, and publishes in scientific journals
• Confers with scientists and engineers within the Corden Pharma environment regarding research and prepares technical papers and reports
• Designs, develops, and executes and/or oversees the execution of innovative procedures, processes, and methods for solutions to chemical and technical problems
• Provides leadership and evaluation of intellectual property issues
• Serves as a liaison with multiple disciplines and/or manufacturing or development sites
• Evaluates proposals for external publication (including presentations) considering proprietary restrictions, and makes recommendations for compliance
• Has a consistent record of contributing innovative and practical solutions to technical problems; and develops or directs the development of solutions to complex technical problems where little or no precedence exists
• Ensures that the site technological processes are sufficient and robust to meet yield, quality, throughput, and SHE (Safety, Health, & Environment) requirements
• Provides input for evaluations of new processes and new business opportunities proposed for implementation into development and/or manufacturing as requested

Leadership & Budget Responsibilities

Provides visionary scientific leadership, shaping the long-term research direction of Corden Pharma. Leads enterprise-wide initiatives to identify and implement vanguard technologies that drive innovation and business growth. Mentors scientists, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and creativity across Corden Pharma.

Serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, influencing decisions on research priorities and organizational strategy. Influences strategic budgeting decisions for high-level research initiatives and innovation programs. Collaborates with executive leadership to address funding for breakthrough research opportunities and transformational projects.

In following Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Corden Pharma Colorado manufactures in accordance with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Council for Harmonisation Q7 (ICH), and other global regulations as applicable. This is critical as it is our mission to not place patients at risk due to inadequate safety, quality, or efficacy. CPC's Quality Management System, which incorporates cGMP, is designed to deliver this quality objective. Attainment is produced through the requisite participation and commitment of all staff across departments and at all levels within the company.

cGMP is the part of Quality Management System ensuring products are consistently produced to accurate quality standards. Adherence to clearly defined procedures, in compliance with the principles of cGMP, is required when performing operations across Corden Pharma Colorado.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Doctoral Degree (PhD) with 15 years of advanced scientific experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry, or a combination of Pharmaceutical Industry and/or academic experience, or the equivalent, is required.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and analytical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply, explore, and adapt advanced mathematical concepts, including but not limited to, multivariate statistics, chemometrics, differential equations, and probability theory in reference to, for example, problem solving for process and analytical method optimization, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, design of experiments, data driven decision making, and risk assessments. While expertise in all areas is not expected, the ability to delve into and effectively utilize mathematical tools as needed is expected.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (chemical formulae, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
