Key Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering comprehensive clinical psychiatric care to Veterans, which encompasses both on-call and walk-in services.
- Performing diagnostic assessments, psychiatric consultations, medication management, and providing individual or group therapy.
- Possibly overseeing the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary team as needed.
- Ensuring timely completion of documentation and encounters within 24 hours, participating in required Talent Management Systems (TMS) training, and fulfilling Ongoing Professional Practice Examination (OPPE) assessments for fellow providers by their respective deadlines.
- May offer clinical support for the Chief of Behavioral Medicine.
- Administering clinical services to Veterans through various modalities, including in-person, phone, CVT, and VVC, as deemed clinically suitable.
- The role necessitates both administrative and practical knowledge of mental health treatment environments, alongside clinical expertise as a Psychiatrist. The individual must be capable of analyzing, gathering, and synthesizing information and data, assessing outcomes against relevant standards, and suggesting corrective measures when necessary.
- Common conditions treated include anxiety disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression, other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other serious mental illnesses, as well as dementia and mental health issues related to Traumatic Brain Injury. The clientele comprises both female and male Veterans from various military backgrounds. While most patients receive outpatient care, consultation services may also extend to inpatients and residents of Community Living Centers and Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs, as well as participants in Mental Health Intensive Case Management, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team, Substance Use, Homeless, and Housing Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing programs.
- The individual is expected to exercise discretion in selecting or modifying established clinical theories, techniques, and practices for patient treatment or in developing innovative approaches for specialized issues or clinical groups.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
