Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP certification, an active AK license, and pediatric outpatient experience for a 13-week travel assignment in Juneau, AK.

Details

• Pediatric outpatient clinic setting within a Rehabilitation Services Department
• Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, with exact shift details determined by scheduling needs
• Full-time, 40-hour per week position
• Serves a wide range of pediatric patients with varying diagnoses and skill needs, including speech, language, swallowing, cognitive, and functional communication disorders
• Services provided across multiple settings including inpatient, outpatient, home health, long-term care, and community locations
• Occasional multi-day travel to remote locations by boat or small plane, potentially in harsh weather conditions
• Video conferencing used for patient encounters, training, and administrative duties at off-site locations

Requirements

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required
• Active and unrestricted Alaska SLP license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a licensed SLP
• Pediatric and outpatient experience required
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required
• Flu vaccine required
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding movements
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Provides SLP evaluations, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions across inpatient, outpatient, home health, and community settings
• Conducts patient and family education, including home exercise programs tailored to individual needs and cross-cultural sensitivities
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary care teams, attends care conferences, and communicates with referring providers regarding patient status and needs
• Assists with durable medical equipment acquisition, fitting, and home assessments for patients' living environments
• Participates in quality improvement, program development, and productivity enhancement within the Rehabilitation Services Department
• Provides in-service education and therapy consultation to medical staff and other healthcare personnel
• Work environment may involve repetitive or heavy lifting, exposure to infectious organisms, and potential presence of latex
• Note: fingerprint card processing is required prior to starting; start date will be no less than 6 weeks after fingerprint cards are received at the facility
