Details Work in a 23-bed Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit within a Level 1 trauma acute care facility Patient ratios of 1:3-4 Patient population includes stroke, cardiac, sepsis, and surgical diagnoses RNs are required to titrate drips including heparin, nitro, cardizem, levo, cardene, and precedex Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPap, and high flow; RNs troubleshoot but RT manages ventilators Monitor techs observe cardiac rhythms, but RNs are responsible for interpreting their own telemetry strips Charge nurse coverage is available 24/7 and typically does not take a patient assignment CNAs support the unit with ratios ranging from 8-23 patients each 12-hour night shifts, 7p-730a 36 guaranteed hours per week Weekend rotation required based on unit needs Every other holiday required on a rotating day/night schedule No call or standby requirements Floating required throughout the facility, excluding ER and OB Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA only) Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required Experience with trach care, BiPap, stroke care, and IV drip titration required Acute care and Level 1 trauma setting experience preferred Additional Information Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced stepdown unit for medically complex patients Collaborate with charge nurses, CNAs, and monitor techs as part of a coordinated care team Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts Any color professional scrub permitted; scrubs are not provided Candidates must list requested time off for consideration Local candidates welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-772362.
