Sorter/Donation Processor

The Salvation Army is a branch of the Christian Church and the ultimate goal of all programs is a spiritual regeneration of all people.

The Purpose of the Sorter/Donation Processor is to prepare donations for retail sale or salvage according to Salvation Army policy and production procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Following procedure as it pertains to sorting, cleaning, preparing, shipping and receiving donated items for sale
• Keeping donation area clean and without debris
• Sorting donations of clothing, furniture, electrical and miscellaneous household items
• Loading donations for truck delivery
• Adhering to all safety policies as it pertains to loading and unloading of trucks
• Following all accident and injury reporting procedures
• Maintaining a clean and organized receiving and processing area
• Determining which items are saleable, repairable or salvageable
• Other duties as assigned
• Adhering to proper dress code, with uniform as designated by direct Supervisor

Educational requirements include:

• High School diploma or General Education degree (GED) or one or two months of related job experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must complete and follow all safety training requirements provided by immediate Supervisor

Physical requirements include:

• The incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift, bend and stoop
• Frequently the employee must walk, climb and/or balance
• The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 75 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance peripheral, vision and depth perception
