Full Time Columbus, TX, US 6 days ago Requisition ID: 1077 Salary Range: $16.00 To $18.00 Hourly The Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist is responsible for processing requisitions, maintaining the accession log, preparing patients before drawing blood, performing venipunctures and heel/finger sticks on all patients, providing monthly statistics, ordering and stocking supplies from Central Stores. After orientation, training and documentation of competency, the lab assistant will be able: 1) to perform dipstick testing on urine, and 2) to analyze blood samples on the automated hematology, coagulation, and routine chemistry instruments. Other duties as assigned by manager. Education/Experience High school graduate or equivalent. Completions of certified phlebotomy training program preferred but not required. Must have excellent customer relations and telephone skills. Empathy and interpersonal skills working with patients. Must maintain high professional standards and confidentiality of patient information. Must understand the safe use of laboratory equipment.
