About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Must have medical-surgical oncology and at least 1 inpatient hematology oncology experience in work history. License: Must hold a valid nursing license. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ONS Chemotherapy Certification required. Must-Have: A minimum of two years of overall nursing experience is required. Must have experience with leukemia and blood dyscrasias. Description: This position involves providing care for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. It is a medical unit with a high number of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolytes. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4, but may be 1:5 based on unit needs. Scheduling is flexible, allowing for self-schedule requests to accommodate preferred shifts before finalizing. There is a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention. Experience in telemetry interpretation, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line management is needed. Candidates must possess skills in assessing and managing ports, administering chemotherapy, and recognizing abnormal lab values. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Travelers must adhere to compliance procedures promptly. References from professional roles are required. Candidates must have been away from prior employers for a minimum of 6 months to be eligible for this position.
