Charge Nurse Pay Grade 15 Salary $31.81 Hourly Employment Type EXECUTIVE BRANCH | FULL TIME | ELIGIBLE FOR OVERTIME PAY | 18A | 40.0 HR/WK Hiring Agency General Government Cabinet | Department of Veterans Affairs Location 100 Veterans Drive Wilmore, KY 40390 USA Description The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Supervisor to coordinate theMinimum Data Set (MDS) program and oversee nursing staff within our long-term care facility. This positionplays a key role in ensuring high-quality care for our veteran residents while maintaining compliance withMedicare, Medicaid, and CMS regulations. Key Responsibilities Supervise nursing staff involved in the MDS process and coordinate staff schedules to ensure program coverage. Serve as a preceptor for newly hired staff and provide ongoing education and training related to MDS and skilled care documentation. Track Medicare beneficiary benefit periods and validate eligibility for Medicare Part A skilled services. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to determine skilled medical necessity for residents. Review and audit MDS assessments, resident care plans, and clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance. Provide training and guidance to nursing staff regarding documentation standards and skilled care requirements. Coordinate with finance staff to ensure billing accuracy and alignment with diagnoses and medical documentation. Communicate with CMS and managed care organizations to support authorization and continuation of benefits. Maintain the Prospective Payment System (PPS) schedule for residents utilizing Medicare benefits. Assist with floor nursing coverage when needed, including medication administration, treatments, and emergency response. Join our team and serve those who served. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. ; Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
