Job TitleMaintenance TechnicianJob DescriptionThis position plans, supervises and coordinates a wide variety of maintenance, repairs, and special projects within the Charleston County Facilities Department, at the direction of the Trades Technician Supervisor. Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the repair, installation, and maintenance in the plumbing trade. This position will be expected to assist with administrative duties such as the computer-based work order management system, project management and procurement processes, as well as provide support to building occupants in the absence of the regular supervisor. HIRING SALARY:$50,440 - $66,060 (Estimated Annual Salary) OPEN UNTIL FILLED, APPLICATION REVEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELYDuties and ResponsibilitiesDuties will include, but are not limited to: repairing water heaters, water fountains, ice machines, and mixing valves; and fixtures; leaky faucets and water lines, unclogging drains, toilets, and sinks; completing work order forms and reports and overseeing outside contractors. In addition, individual will be responsible for maintaining issued tools and repair parts inventory. Position requires after hours on call 24/7 and is subject to repetitive bending, kneeling, standing, climbing, prolonged sitting, and the capability to lift up to 50 lbs.Minimum QualificationsThree years of progressively responsible experience in the residential and commercial building trade and a minimum of five (5) years in a building maintenance plumbing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The selected individual may from time to time be involved in facility alterations, renovations and other maintenance duties as needed. Must possess a high school diploma (or GED). Must possess a valid SC driver's license and pass a background check and capable of meeting medical and physical examination requirements. A master plumber's license is a plus.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills are required and the ability to effectively problem solve and troubleshoot a variety of situations. Exemplary customer service/support skills are required and experience using word processing, email, spreadsheet functions, Office 365 and power point. Ability to provide feedback in both written and oral forms. Must be able to be on call 24/7 and available to work various shifts.
