Sterile Processing Technician
The Sterile Processing Technician in the Central Processing Unit is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that all equipment meets the required safety and quality standards for surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assemble and wrap instruments and trays for sterilization.
- Ensure proper sterilization protocols are followed using steam sterilization and other methods.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes and outcomes.
- Collaborate with surgical staff to meet equipment needs and ensure seamless operations.
Required Experience / Certifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience.
- Experience in a Trauma Level I facility is required.
- National certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM is mandatory.
- BLS certification is required.
- Experience with robotic instruments and high-level disinfection is preferred.
