Firmware Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable firmware controlling spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations throughout the mission.
• Own software development activities including design, testing, and integration.
• Scope projects through requirements capture and initial design trades for open-ended problems.
• Develop structured bare-metal, RTOS-based, or Linux-based C++ software for embedded processors.
• Build highly reliable and available software systems.
• Ensure software quality and performance through testing, verification, and validation techniques.
• Support flight operations for deployed software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• At least 3 years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware and software systems.
• Experience developing in C++ with a strong understanding of language concepts.
• Preferred experience with safety-critical software, particularly aerospace applications.
• Preferred experience with Python or Rust.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking.
