Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Tool Mechanic consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

* Exemplifies the Amcor Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Amcor inside and outside of the plant.

* Work in a professional manner with other maintenance personnel and mold technicians as needed to keep all equipment in top working order resulting in only quality product being released to the customer.

* Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions, sketches, or from the actual part to be copied or fitted.

* Plans the setup and operation of various machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, and machine tool feeds and speeds.

* Heat treats and welds parts as required.

* Uses precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspections before, during, and after machining.

* Uses hand tools of the trade for modifications as required.

* Fits and assembles mold parts, tools, and dies. Sets up, runs off, and tests molds to produce a product meeting specification, tracing die difficulties to their source and making any necessary modifications.

* May assist machinists and millwrights in injection molding press overhaul.

* May assist product designers by providing information about potential manufacturing difficulties with new product designs.

* Various other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL, SKILL, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years industrial maintenance, manufacturing, technical school &/or Associates degree from an accredited technical institute or combination education and experience.

* Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.

* Good hand-eye coordination is required.

* Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

* Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds.

* Specific vision abilities required include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

* Frequently exposed to fumes, or airborne particles.

* Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.

* Good communication skills--verbal and written; must effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.

* Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.

* Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.

* Extensive knowledge with electrical, hydraulic and injection molding machines.

* Familiarity with "hot runner" mold systems is highly preferred.

* Ability to communicate with designers concerning technical ramifications of designs.

* Excellent corrected vision to read blueprints and to perform careful inspection of molds and test products.

* Excellent manual dexterity, muscular control, and a delicate touch to accomplish precision work without damage to valuable molds.
