Specialist Product Design Verification Software Engineer Cybersecurity

Impact You’ll Make The Specialist in Product Design Verification, Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity is responsible for a variety of software verification and validation (V&V) activities, including process development, project planning, developing test procedures, developing software to automate testing, and providing reports. Key areas of responsibility include verification of medical device embedded software, evaluating and testing medical device cybersecurity, validation of software related to product testing, and development of scripts/tools to automate embedded software testing with a focus on cybersecurity. Responsibilities Creating and maintaining processes and procedures supporting Software Design Verification and Cybersecurity Testing. Developing V&V software test project plans, including regression planning and testing of software during the development process. Developing V&V software test procedures using current industry standards (e.g., ISO, IEEE, CMMI). Managing test project schedules by communicating workload, executing planned activities, and coordinating with the larger project team. Planning and executing team meetings such as Test Approach, Test Readiness, and Pre‑Release Review, and participating in project team meetings. Generating test guidelines for the software team, Quality, and Engineering groups for testing during development; designing and building tools/fixtures for embedded software. Developing and implementing automated test procedures to streamline testing processes, emphasizing continuous improvement and cost‑effective innovation. Developing nimble test scripts/tools to automate embedded software system testing; ensuring modularity as testing needs change with each release. Coordinating test activities, reviewing results, investigating issues, and generating compliant documentation aligned with Solventum procedures. Training new software design verification engineers and test technicians in Solventum verification and validation processes, including cybersecurity. Required Qualifications A STEM bachelor’s degree or higher (completed prior to start) from an accredited institution, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity Testing. Seven (7) years of experience in cybersecurity, software quality engineering, and/or software test methodologies in a private, public, government, or military environment. Experience with other forms of security testing activities and creating documentation (e.g., software composition analysis, SBOM generation, threat modeling, vulnerability assessments) in a similar environment. Additional Qualifications Experience with cybersecurity testing and equipment (penetration testing, malformed input testing/fuzz testing, static application security testing (SAST), etc.). Proficiency with MS Office business software – Word, Excel, Project. Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, Cybersecurity, or Electrical Engineering. Working knowledge of pre‑market and post‑market medical device regulations (FDA, EU, and other agencies) and related standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304). Experience in embedded cybersecurity: cryptography, PKI, secure boot, firmware security, threat modeling. Experience with embedded systems, IoT, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, and cellular technologies. Travel May include up to 10% domestic/international. Authorization Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status). The expected compensation range for this position is $124,000 – $170,500, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay if eligible. The range is a good faith estimate and may vary based on factors such as relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience.
