JOB TITLE: Master Teacher I/IICLASSIFICATION: Academic/Full-time/Non-ExemptPOSITION GRADE: Grade 5/6SALARY: $21.68 per hour with Associates Degree. $23.24 per hour with Bachelor's Degree. JOB HOURS: 37.5 hours per week; Monday-Friday. Occasional evening hours required.JOB LOCATION: CAPC Watertown Head Start Center –Unit 3JOB SUMMARY:The Master Teacher II is responsible for teaching and maintaining a safe, healthy, anddevelopmentally appropriate pre-school classroom of 18 children - age 4 years old with theassistance of the Teacher Assistant and Teacher Aide. The Master Teacher prepares and implementslesson plans for age appropriate classroom activities and maintains compliance with NYS Daycareand Head Start regulations. This person provides leadership, supervision and guidance to classroomstaff. Systematic planning and recordkeeping are essential for this position.EDUCATION: Associate Degree minimum in Early Childhood Education or related field required.SKILLS: Knowledge of early childhood, ability to work with young children, supportive and non-judgmental in working with diverse families, strong organization, communication and time management skills, maintain confidentiality of program and agency related information, serve as an advocate for children and families, work independently and as a team member to provide quality programming for Head Start children and families, and keep accurate detailed recordsOTHER: Employment is conditional pending satisfactory medical exam and TB test, receipt of clearance from theNYS Office of Children and Family Services, NYS Central Register for Child Abuse & Neglect, and NYSCriminal Justice Center at the time of hire. CAPC is a substance free workplace. The agency conductsrandom, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing. Physical requirements of the job includestanding, sitting, walking short distances, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
