Phlebotomist (Evergreen)

Responsibilities: Responsible for efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process, and following standard operating procedures. Perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set‑up, monitoring, and donor disconnect in compliance with SOPs. Perform venipuncture on donors to begin the pheresis process in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines. Evaluate vein performance of the donor to identify problems and make necessary corrections to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety. Ensure the donation process is efficient and provide a positive experience for the donor. Educate new donors on therapeutic products made from donated plasma, explaining screening processes, health tests, appointment systems, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition, and other pertinent information; ensure donor questions are answered timely, accurately, and professionally. Maintain alertness to any donor reaction and assist or notify appropriate staff. Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events. Perform calibrations and verify that maintenance has been performed as outlined in the SOPs; respond to and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues. Troubleshoot equipment failures, create incident documentation, and remove or replace equipment from service. Monitor donor flow on the donor floor to assure continuous turnover; alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues. Collect arm or whole blood samples from donors for testing. Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs. Understand policies and procedures associated with hyperimmune programs at the center, if applicable. Maintain a clean, efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available; follow all HSE and OSHA policies and procedures and promote safety in all actions. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information. May be cross‑trained in other areas to meet business needs. Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. For centers located in California, a minimum state certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I OR current Registered Nurse by the State of California is required. Compensation: (NON-EXEMPT) The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $18.68/hour – $22.10/hour.
