Description:
The Field Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the on-site installation of custom aerospace maintenance platforms at customer facilities. This role serves as the primary field authority for safety, quality, schedule adherence, and issue resolution during installation activities. The Field Operations Manager acts as the key liaison between internal engineering/manufacturing teams and customer operations staff, ensuring seamless execution, transparent communication, and full compliance with aerospace, customer, and regulatory requirements.
This role requires strong leadership, hands-on problem solving, and the ability to manage complex installations in secure, safety-critical aerospace environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Installation & Execution
Lead and oversee the on-site installation of custom maintenance platforms at customer aerospace facilities
Ensure installation activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, work instructions, and customer specifications
Coordinate site logistics, access requirements, installation sequencing, and daily work plans
Verify platform fit, alignment, anchoring, and functional performance during installation
Safety Leadership
Enforce all company, customer, FAA, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements
Conduct daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and site safety briefings
Identify hazards, stop unsafe work, and implement corrective actions immediately
Serve as the on-site safety leader and primary point of contact for customer safety teams
Quality Assurance
Ensure installations meet internal quality standards and customer/aerospace compliance requirements
Perform in-process and final installation inspections
Coordinate punch-list resolution and corrective actions
Support customer acceptance, sign-off, and turnover documentation
Customer & Management Communication
Provide regular installation status updates to internal management (schedule, risks, issues, and progress)
Serve as the primary on-site representative to the customer
Communicate professionally with customer engineering, facilities, safety, and operations teams
Proactively identify and communicate schedule impacts or scope changes
Problem Solving & Coordination
Troubleshoot installation challenges including site constraints, fit-up issues, and unforeseen conditions
Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement solutions
Support field modifications, redlines, and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) as required
Ensure issues are documented and lessons learned are captured for future projects
Team Leadership
Lead and coordinate installation crews, subcontractors, and third-party service providers
Ensure technicians are properly trained, qualified, and compliant with site requirements
Assign daily tasks and monitor workmanship and productivity
Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and safety excellence
Requirements:Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience in field operations, installation management, or construction management in industrial, aerospace, or manufacturing environments
Strong understanding of:
- Structural steel and welded assemblies
- Mechanical installation practices
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety practices
- Ability to travel extensively to customer sites (typically 50–75%)
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience installing platforms, access equipment, or industrial structures
- Familiarity with FAA-regulated environments and ITAR-controlled facilities
- Experience coordinating with engineering teams on field changes
- Safety certifications (OSHA 10/30, Construction Safety, or equivalent)
- Experience managing installations in active production or hangar environments
- Experience working in aerospace facilities (OEM, MRO, defense, or commercial aviation)
- Experience with crane rigging, lifting operations, or overhead material handling is a plus.
