Setting : Level II Trauma Center

Duties :
1. Take a patient history; perform a physical exam and make an assessment and diagnosis therefrom; initiate, review, and revise treatment and therapy plans.
2. Order or transmit an order for x-ray, other studies, therapeutic diets, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and nursing services
3. Order, transmit an order for, perform, or assist in the performance of lab procedures, screening procedures, and therapeutic procedures.
4. Recognize and evaluate situations which call for immediate attention of a physician and institute. When necessary, treatment procedures are essential for the life of the patient.
5. Instruct and counsel patients regarding matters pertaining to their physical and mental health. Counseling may include topics such as medications, diets, social habits, family planning, normal growth and development, aging, and understanding of and long-term management of their diseases.
6. Initiate arrangements for admissions, complete forms and charts pertinent to the patient's medical records, and provide services to patients requiring continuing care, including patients at home.
7. Initiate and facilitate the referral of patients to the appropriate health facilities, agencies, and resources of the community.
8. Administer medication for a patient, or transmit orally, or in writing on a patient's record a prescription from his/her supervising physician to a person who may lawfully furnish such medication or medical device.

  • Suture Removal
  • Debridement and closure of wounds: Skin and subcutaneous
  • Debridement of wounds: Superficial
  • Basic Management of non-displaced fractures
  • Removal of superficial foreign bodies
  • Provide hemostasis
  • Insert and remove packing
  • Incision and drainage
  • Cervical Spine clearance
  • Chest tube removal
  • Burn Management, partial thickness less than 10%
  • Laceration Repair: Intermediate
  • Arterial Line Insertion
  • Fracture reductions with minimal or moderate displacement
  • Reduction of simple dislocations
  • Central Line Insertion
  • Chest Tuber Insertion
  • EMR: Cerner Care B
  • Support Staff: There will be one other Trauma NP/PA who works day shift (7a-5p).

  • Timeframe: Estimated Credentialing Time Frame: Within 15-30 days of receipt of FULLY completed application

  • Surgical Assist is NOT part of the job, Trauma APPs and Neuro-Trauma do not provide surgical assists to Surgeons
Details :
-NP- Trauma/Critical Care experience
-Trauma Level/Designation: Level II Trauma Center
-Average Number of ICU Patients per Provider per day: 20-25 patients, daily patient census on Trauma Service.
-Other Details of Role: (anything else Provider should consider or that should be asked prior to presenting): Few to zero pediatric patients on service
How many other support staff members are there? There will be one other Trauma NP/PA who works day shift (7a-5p). Which brings me to an update - We now need 2 trauma APPs, So our Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Coordinator will be choosing two from the candidates for this job posting.
How many physicians will the locum be supporting? They will be supporting the one trauma surgeon on call and responsible for monitoring, managing, and discharging all of the patients on the trauma service.

Pay on 1099: (Clinical)
Orientation rate: $70/hr.
Hourly pay rate: $140/hr.
Overtime Rate: $160/hr.
Holiday Hourly Rate: $160/hr.
Holiday overtime rate: $170/hr.
Airfare, Lodging, and Malpractice Covered

Submission Requirements:
Resume/CV (No Gaps for more than 30 days).
NPDB pulled within 30 days. At the time of presentation - REQUIRED .
ANCC Certified REQURIED .
CA active license CA REQURIED (NPs must have CA NP furnishing number)
CA DEA, ACLS, ATLS, BLS REQUIRED
Availability at time of name clear REQUIRED
Clean Malpractice / Background - Clean HIGHLY PREFERRED
Local, No flights - HIGHLY PREFERRED
Must be actively working at a TJC-accredited hospital - REQUIRED
