Maintenance Manager

Description


The Maintenance Manager is the senior maintenance leader at the plant and is responsible for the strategic direction, day-to-day management, and overall performance of the maintenance department.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring a strong mechanical and electrical background within a 24/7 manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Manager will lead Maintenance Supervisors, Leads, and Technicians while remaining capable of stepping onto the production floor to assist with troubleshooting and repairs when necessary.

The role owns preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, departmental budgeting, capital expenditures, maintenance systems, equipment evaluation and purchasing, and facility maintenance. Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, develop, and assign work to the plant maintenance team.
• Manage the maintenance department budget and assist with annual capital and facility planning.
• Develop, schedule, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Analyze recurring equipment failures and production delays and drive corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment problems.
• Coordinate equipment design modifications, process improvements, installations, and startups.
• Manage smaller equipment projects from equipment selection through installation and startup.
• Evaluate equipment and assist with major equipment bids and purchasing decisions.
• Coordinate outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
• Maintain plant facilities, grounds, and production equipment across all shifts.
• Manage maintenance work orders and ensure proper documentation and closeout.
• Oversee the machine-parts storeroom.
• Support plant safety programs, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs, employee health and safety requirements, SQF, and GMP standards.

Must-Have Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience leading the entire maintenance function.
• Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Industrial electrical experience, including 3-phase wiring and machinery operating up to at least 480V.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial/manufacturing machinery.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, drives, HMIs, and associated electronic equipment.
• Experience developing and managing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
• Ability and willingness to remain hands-on and assist with equipment troubleshooting and repair when needed.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and computer skills.
• Ability to independently diagnose problems involving multiple variables and limited information. Maintenance Manager
