Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods. Perform clinical tasks in a fast-paced obstetric setting, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the childbirth process.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vitals, documenting changes accurately in the medical record system.
• Assist healthcare providers with procedures such as epidurals, c-sections, and other obstetric interventions.
• Manage IV fluids, including magnesium and other high-acuity medications, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure a positive patient experience and optimal clinical outcomes.
• Maintain sterile techniques and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid RN license in the state of Virginia or appropriate licensing for travel assignments.
• Possess at least 2 years of recent experience in Labor and Delivery units.
• Demonstrate proficiency in fetal monitoring, obstetric procedures, and postpartum care.
• Be BLS, ACLS, and NRP certified; AWOHHN and Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certifications preferred.
• Exhibit strong clinical skills, including experience with scrub and circulating roles in the OR.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with high patient acuity.
