Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This individual will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, and accounting for a portfolio of real estate assets and related entities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience in real estate accounting, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes for multiple entities and properties. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Analyze operating results and investigate variances to budget and prior periods. Maintain general ledger activity and ensure accuracy of financial records. Account for acquisitions, dispositions, capital projects, and intercompany transactions. Prepare and reconcile fixed asset schedules and depreciation. Assist with property‑level CAM reconciliations and tenant billings, as applicable. Coordinate with property management, development, and asset management teams to ensure accurate reporting. Support annual audits and tax return preparation by providing schedules and documentation to external auditors and tax advisors. Assist with cash management, debt schedules, and lender reporting requirements. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls. Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3–6+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in commercial real estate, multifamily, development, or property management accounting. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience with real estate ownership structures and multi‑entity accounting. Proficiency with ERP systems such as Yardi, MRI, Sage Intacct, JD Edwards, or NetSuite preferred. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP. CPA designation or CPA‑track preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Preferred Experience Exposure to real estate development accounting and construction drawing analysis. Experience with debt compliance and lender reporting. Knowledge of partnership accounting and allocation. Familiarity with CAM reconciliations, tenant improvements, and lease accounting.
