Job Overview Medical Science Liaison – Obesity (Field) – Territory: Thousand Oaks, Fresno, Bakersfield (CA) and Nevada. Responsibilities Act as the primary scientific and clinical resource to Opinion Leaders (OLs), Population Health Decision Makers (PHDMs), and healthcare providers, executing Amgen Medical function and product strategy. Engage in peer‑to‑peer activities with Obesity and related condition experts, community providers, and PHDMs to discuss and advance the scientific platform aligned with Amgen’s corporate goals. Support clinical investigators and sites in the obesity pipeline and communicate scientific, clinical, and economic data to PHDMs within assigned IDNs. Connect external and internal stakeholders to amplify Amgen’s reach and access for patients. Conduct in‑depth scientific exchanges to provide focused and balanced information consistent with MSL compliance standards. Support and lead study sponsorship, serve as a study lead when applicable, and liaise with investigators in non‑sponsored research. Provide field observations and insights to internal stakeholders to inform Amgen strategies. Lead and support congress activities and speaker training, ensuring speakers are updated on new data. Participate in project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics as delegated by MSL leadership. Collaborate with all Amgen field roles who share customers to create an appropriately coordinated One Amgen experience. Execute all administrative responsibilities and training (e.g., Veeva CRM, expense reports, compliance modules) in a timely manner. Maintain and improve clinical/scientific acumen and expertise with current data, information, and healthcare trends. Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and possess excellent communication skills to effectively convey scientific data. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree and 3 years of Medical Affairs experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Medical Affairs experience. Preferred Qualifications Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered). 1+ years of Medical Affairs experience. 4+ years in a medically related field, including at least 1 year focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research. Post‑doctoral training (residencies and/or fellowships) acceptable for medically related experience. 2+ years in a medical science liaison role within a biotech or pharmaceutical company. Current experience in Scientific Affairs or Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company. Cardiometabolic and/or obesity expertise. Experience with a designated territory.
