Position Information Classification Title Agricultural Technician I FLSA Non-Exempt FTE 0.49 Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Position Summary The position will assist with the preparation of nurseries and maintain the upkeep in greenhouses to include planting, recording data accurately, harvesting, crossing, and irrigation in a timely and efficient manner that support the Small Grains Breeding and Genetics research program. This position will also assist in laboratory activities as needed. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Experienced in recording data, seed processing, greenhouse maintenance, and nursery preparation. Team Player Physical Demands Work in the field under varied climate conditions. Travel to UGA Research Centers across the state of Georgia during planting and harvesting season. Duties / Responsibilities Seed Prep Process seeds of harvested samples. Prepare seeds for planting. Percentage of time 30 Greenhouse Activities Assist with planting, making crosses, and harvesting. Maintenance of greenhouses. Percentage of time 30 Field Work Assist with planting, recording data accurately, and maintaining & harvesting nurseries. Percentage of time 30 Laboratory Assist with preparation of lab work for wheat breeding and plant breeding research.
