Requisition Number: AS980P Job Title: Coordinator, Interpreting Services Pay Rate: $72,000 - $78,000 Annually Position Type: Administrative Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday Full/Part Time: Full Time Telework Eligible?: Yes Position Summary This position provides coordination of all interpreting services and other related support services for Deaf and hard of hearing students, employees, and visitors of the College. The Coordinator will use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace. The role also serves as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter to facilitate communication with Deaf and hard of hearing individuals at the College. The Coordinator is on call to respond to cancellations and adjustments that may be required for interpreting assignments and supports the enrollment, retention, and completion initiatives of the College. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and assign/schedule interpreters. Manage coordination of interpreting services including staff interpreters, PTVS interpreters, and agency interpreters. Provide on‑call, after‑hours coordination duties with flex hours. Conduct client needs assessment to match clients with appropriate interpreters. Perform high‑level, complex, and technical interpreting for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals using ASL or another sign language‑based system such as Signed English, Transliteration, and/or Visual Gestural Communication. Interpret set classes and/or provide substitute interpreting each semester; the number of classes is determined in consultation with the Disability Access Services (DAS) Director. Provide assigned interpreting services as needed during College closures when classes continue. Provide transcription services for Deaf and hard of hearing students in classrooms or remotely, using C‑Print transcription, as needed and with applicable training provided. Support faculty with Deaf or hard of hearing students with captioning for pre‑recorded class materials, captioning for Structured Remote/Hybrid/Online course content, or voice‑over interpretation for signed videos, as needed and with applicable training provided. Serve as a resource to faculty and staff regarding learning needs of Deaf and hard of hearing students. Develop and present workshops or training sessions for faculty, staff, students, and other College partners. Manage tracking and monitoring of all College interpreting. Develop and recommend protocols related to interpreting services being solicited, provided, canceled, terminated, or substituted. Manage department budget in consultation with DAS Director. Support various enrollment, retention, and completion initiatives of the College. Perform other duties as assigned.
