You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Duties

Help

• You will assist managers and senior specialists in reviewing and evaluating new, revised, or proposed security instructions, guidelines, opinions, and decisions for impact on the organization's practices.
• You will review established security instructions and provide training in well-established security areas.
• You will maintain the accountability records for all communication security (COMSEC) materials and equipment in the Center account.
• You will process and adjudicate personnel security investigations for sensitive positions using prescribed standards and procedures.
• You will perform the preliminary analysis of security system controls, such as reviewing standard design, inspecting facilities where sensitive material will be located, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing security practice.

• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
• This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 24 months of assuming the position.
• SPeD ceritification/s must be maintained and undergo renewal process every two years in accordance with SECNAVINST 5500.38.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

GS-12 : Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying security principles across personnel, physical, information, and/or industrial security disciplines; evaluating and ensuring the effectiveness of security measures and programs; assessing complex security vulnerabilities and recommending corrective actions; and/or interpreting and applying security policies to resolve conflicts or gaps in security programs.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting with security programs across personnel, physical, information, or industrial security, including developing or implementing security procedures, conducting inspections, documenting or investigating security incidents, or providing security education and training.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree

OR

LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. ppp
