About the Role Asphalt Green is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Triathlon Coach to lead coaching for the adult triathlon program at the Upper East Side location. The Triathlon Coach is responsible for designing and delivering structured training sessions that support adult athletes across triathlon disciplines, including strength and dynamic stretching, cycling, running, and overall multisport preparation. This role supports athlete development, safe training practices, performance improvement, and a positive community experience for participants. The ideal candidate has strong triathlon or endurance coaching experience, understands how to support athletes at different skill levels, and can provide clear instruction, thoughtful programming, and strong communication. What You’ll Do Triathlon Coaching and Athlete Development Lead training sessions for Asphalt Green's adult triathlon program. Design and deliver structured workouts that support athlete development across triathlon disciplines. Coach participants in areas such as strength, dynamic stretching, cycling, running, endurance, pacing, and race preparation. Support athletes at varying levels, from newer participants to more experienced multisport athletes. Provide clear instruction, feedback, and guidance during training sessions. Help athletes build confidence, consistency, and understanding of safe training practices. Foster a positive team environment that encourages effort, accountability, and community. Program Design and Training Support Create organized training plans that support participant goals and program expectations. Develop purposeful workouts that address endurance, technique, strength, mobility, and overall multisport preparation. Adjust programming as needed based on participant needs, training goals, and program structure. Support race-day preparation, training progression, and athlete readiness when applicable. Use coaching knowledge and participant feedback to improve the training experience. Administrative and Program Responsibilities Complete 2-4 hours of administrative duties connected to the triathlon program. Support program communication, scheduling, participant updates, and training-related coordination. Track relevant program information and communicate updates to Jim Wu or Sports Department leadership as needed. Assist with additional miscellaneous coaching or programming needs, approximately 1-2 hours per month. Attend meetings, trainings, or program events as scheduled. Support and follow Asphalt Green program policies and procedures. Safety, Communication, and Community Maintain a safe and supportive training environment. Communicate clearly and professionally with participants, staff, and program leadership. Promote positive team culture, sportsmanship, consistency, and respect. Provide guidance around training expectations, recovery, preparation, and participant accountability. Respond appropriately to participant concerns, safety issues, or program needs. Who You’ll Work With The Triathlon Coach works closely with Sports Department leadership, adult triathlon participants, coaching staff, and other Asphalt Green team members. This role may also coordinate with facility staff or program partners as needed to support training sessions, scheduling, participant experience, and program operations. Qualifications: Required Qualifications Experience coaching triathlon, endurance sports, running, cycling, strength training, or multisport programming. Strong understanding of triathlon training principles, including endurance development, pacing, technique, strength, mobility, and race preparation. Ability to design and lead structured training sessions for adult athletes. Ability to support participants at different fitness and experience levels. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to foster a positive, safe, and community-focused training environment. Ability to complete administrative duties connected to program coordination and participant communication. Ability to work the required part-time schedule, including coaching hours, administrative hours, and occasional additional programming needs. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications USA Triathlon coaching certification or another relevant endurance coaching certification. Personal experience participating in triathlon, running, cycling, or endurance events. Experience coaching adult athletes in group training settings. Experience using training platforms, fitness tracking tools, or performance data to support athlete progress. Experience supporting race preparation, training cycles, or periodized training plans. CPR/AED or First Aid certification. Strong knowledge of injury prevention, recovery, mobility, and safe training progression. Bilingual or multilingual language skills. Schedule and Work Environment This is a part-time, in-person role based at Asphalt Green's Upper East Side location. The expected schedule includes 1-3 hours of coaching per week, typically 1 hour up to 3 times per week, plus 2-4 hours of administrative duties. Additional miscellaneous coaching or programming hours may be required, approximately 1-2 hours per month. The work environment may include fitness spaces, indoor training areas, outdoor training environments, cycling or running spaces, administrative work settings, and other program areas.
