RN New Graduate Nurse - 3 West - General Medicine

Program Overview The twelve‑month UNC Health Rex Nurse Residency program supports new graduate nurses transitioning from academia to practice. The residency combines structured clinical orientation, classroom sessions focused on unit skills, continuing education, evidence‑based practice project, and milestone check‑ins with unit leadership and educator. Responsibilities Participate in orientation and ongoing education to meet learning needs. Identify expected patient outcomes, revise plan of care, and evaluate patient care with interdisciplinary team. Deliver competent care to patients with complex problems, perform bedside point‑of‑care testing, and consult resources for complex issues. Develop professional goals, collaborate in unit goals and performance improvement, promote cost‑effective care, and maintain a safe environment. Assess and synthesize patient data to determine priorities, anticipate discharge needs, and build relationships with families. Collaborate with patient/family to update plan of care, use multidisciplinary resources, and address cultural and ethnic issues. Read journals, bring ideas to staff, and apply evidence‑based practice. Qualifications Graduation from a professional nursing school; if hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years and obtain a Bachelor’s degree (major in Nursing) within seven years. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the day of clinical care. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. No prior clinical experience required; ability to learn and apply clinical knowledge.
