Clinical Laboratory TechnicianOpportunity to work at the #1 Hospital in the USThe Clinical Laboratory Technician will work in a high-volume Microbiology Core Laboratory that provides comprehensive clinical microbiology testing services, including bacteriology, virology, mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology, infectious disease serology, and molecular diagnostics. This role supports patient care through accurate pathogen detection, identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and expert consultation, while contributing to assay development, quality improvement, and innovation in infectious disease diagnostics. The position offers an excellent entry point into a nationally recognized healthcare system with strong opportunities for long-term career growth.ResponsibilitiesPerform molecular diagnostic testing and reporting using platforms such as BioFire, Cepheid, Simplexa, and lateral flow assays in accordance with established laboratory protocols and quality standards.Process and receive clinical specimens, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and preparation for testing to maintain sample integrity and reliability of results.Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment, promptly addressing technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain testing accuracy.Conduct medical laboratory testing in areas such as microbiology and chemistry, following standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.Perform triage duties for incoming specimens, prioritizing and routing samples appropriately based on clinical urgency and testing requirements.Follow all laboratory safety protocols and quality control procedures to ensure a safe work environment and reliable diagnostic outcomes.Collaborate with laboratory colleagues and participate in continuous quality improvement and assay development initiatives within infectious disease diagnostics.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelors of Science is preferred; Masters degree in a relevant field is acceptable and may be beneficial for advanced understanding of laboratory science.Candidates with OPT status are welcome, provided they meet the educational and experience requirements.Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist is advantageous.Familiarity with infectious disease serology, bacteriology, virology, mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology, and molecular diagnostics is beneficial.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality improvement and innovation in infectious disease diagnostics.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a high-volume, nationally recognized healthcare laboratory environment that serves clinicians, researchers, and laboratory partners across the system.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
