This role performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on food processing, packaging, and utility systems while maintaining strict compliance with safety, food safety, and regulatory standards. Working cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams, the mechanic plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting overall operational performance.Day shift and night shift hours available.4am-4pm OR 4pm-4amwith the following example schedule:Week 1: Monday/Tuesday on; Wednesday/Thursday off; Friday/Saturday/Sunday onWeek 2: Monday/Tuesday off; Wednesday/Thursday on; Friday/Saturday/Sunday offOffer of employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen and background check, where permitted by law.Position responsibilities include, but not limited toPerform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment, including conveyors, fillers, tray sealers, labelers, robotic systems, utility equipment, and related machineryTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operationsConduct equipment inspections to identify wear, defects, or potential failures and perform timely repairs or replacementsInstall, align, calibrate, and commission new equipment and production lines as requiredRespond promptly to equipment breakdowns, restore equipment to operational status, and communicate maintenance activities to production personnelMaintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventory within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)Follow all applicable safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, and other required safety programsComply with all food safety, quality, and sanitation standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP requirementsCollaborate with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiencyIdentify and recommend equipment or process improvements that reduce downtime, improve reliability, and lower maintenance costsFabricate or modify parts and components using welding, machining, or other fabrication methods as neededMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaRequired skills and experienceHigh school diploma or GEDAbility to follow written and verbal instructions in EnglishAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced team environmentUnderstanding of LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, and other safety proceduresUnderstanding of Food Safety requirements in an FDA/USDA regulated environmentStrong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to maintain, diagnose, and repair industrial food processing and packaging equipmentHands-on experience with conveyors, fillers, packers, sealers, robotic systems, and/or utility systems in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of mechanical systems, including bearings, gearboxes, motors, belts, chains, and drive systemsWorking knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems (Sensors, VFDs, PLC, 24-480V, 3PH)Competency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instrumentsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environmentFamiliarity with preventative and predictive maintenance practices and maintenance management systems (CMMS)Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&ID'sAbility to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekendsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsPreferred skills and experienceTwo (2) years of experience in food manufacturing or a related environmentBilingual, English & SpanishBasic welding, fabrication, and machining skillsExperience with robotic packing and/or palletizingExperience with ammonia and refrigeration equipmentTechnical training or degree in maintenance or applicable tradePhysical requirementsWalk or stand for majority of shiftOccasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 poundsStep, climb, bend, kneel, or crouch to access workspaceOperate in varied temperatures from extreme hot to extreme coldUse of hands to feel/grab objects, operates tools and machine controls, and perform repetitive movementsVisual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
