GRANT WRITER

Job Title

This classification performs a variety of duties toward grant seeking efforts, including preparing, writing, and submitting grant proposals to support county wide programs, services, projects, and resources.

Job Description

Essential functions include researching and identifying federal, state, nonprofit, or other grant opportunities, generating high-quality proposals, reading and interpreting requests for proposals and funding guidelines, generating revenues for Manatee County programs through timely submission of well-researched, well written, and well-documented grant proposals, researching, compiling, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating data and information for grant proposals, developing and organizing grant and proposal documentations with consistent style and formatting standards, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred bachelor's degree in a field related to social science, environmental science, business, finance, English, or public administration, two (2) or more years of experience in a position related to grant writing and development, experience with state and/or federal grant portals, intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and valid driver's license with Florida driver's license within 30-days of hire. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications for this position.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include desired training in grant writing, knowledge of principles and practices of grant budgeting and narrative writing, ability to perform research and analyze data, ability to communicate orally and in writing with clarity and conciseness, ability to perform analytical work carefully and accurately, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work, and developing recommendations for future grant funding based upon program review and analysis.
