Submarine Electrical Technician - Travel-Heavy Role

Marine Electrician (US Navy Submarine) Location: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA (Additional locations: Kittery, Maine; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Kings Bay, Georgia; Norfolk, Virginia; Bremerton, Washington). Weekly Hours: 40 hours. Travel Required: 50-75%. Compensation: $39.56 - $53.52 per hour (varies by experience and location). Responsibilities Perform repair, maintenance, removal/installation, troubleshooting, and testing of submarine electrical and electronic systems as part of the SUB AIT Program supporting the In‑Service Attack Submarines Program Office (PMS 392). Execute Non‑Nuclear Electrical Work (TSD EW): install, modify, repair, troubleshoot, and test circuits, controls, instruments, equipment, and wiring. Conduct Generator/Motor Repair (TSD E4): disassemble, inspect, test, clean, varnish, bake, reassemble generators, motors, transformers, and their electrical components. Perform Topside Electrical Work (TSD TZ): remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, adjust, test, and install external electrical systems, cable, hull fittings, penetrators, and tank level indicators. Utilize electrical checks to test systems, disconnect, groom, and reconnect wiring; balance and assemble motor and generator components; insulate using mechanical and dip methods; stone and bevel commutators and slip rings. Carry out training‑required tasks such as cutting cables, hooking equipment, panels, and boxes in accordance with Navy Standard Methods Drawings and SUBSAFE requirements (NAVSEA 0924‑062‑0010 L/R). Qualifications 2+ years of experience repairing nuclear submarine systems in the trade assignment. High School Diploma or GED. US Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (or have DOD final clearance, DISCO, confidential). Training and experience in SUBSAFE work, cutting cables, and wiring as per Navy Standards. Knowledge of electrical and electronic system troubleshooting and testing.
