Benefit Analyst

Benefit Analyst Department : Employee Health & Benefits Status : Non-exempt Reports To : Client Service Executive Summary Work directly with Client Service Team to provide high‑level client support in response to routine client requests and needs, act as liaison with carriers, and maintain client and carrier information. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Support the Client Service Team with the renewal process by gathering client census data, plan designs, rates, and claims data to prepare RFPs. Provide RFP information to Benefit Service Associates and clarify questions for assigned clients. Analyze market proposals to verify benefits, premium rates and competitiveness. Finalize and maintain client and carrier spreadsheets. Prepare and coordinate materials for enrollment and client presentations. Coordinate with carrier representatives for smooth implementation of new plans. Coordinate Administrative Installation with insurance carrier and attend installation meetings. Maintain Agency Management System and ImageRight System. Follow procedures in the Procedure Manual. Provide day‑to‑day client service and act as liaison for client research and problem resolution. Respond to client and carrier questions promptly and seek assistance when needed. Ensure client data is accurate and current throughout renewal and policy periods. Prepare files and records required by Marsh & McLennan. Build good relationships within the Client Service Team. Maintain professional standards when working with clients. Provide backup to other Benefit Analysts as needed. Share information with Benefit Analysts to create a network of information. Attend monthly Analyst meetings and other meetings as requested. Education and Experience Successful candidate is a service‑oriented individual with high personal standards and a hands‑on work style. Basic understanding of health and welfare plan benefits and carriers acquired through at least 3 years of group health and benefits service, preferably at a brokerage, carrier, or as a benefits specialist within a large corporate Human Resources department. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Valid, unrestricted State of California Life & Disability License and continuation education requirements met. Valid Driver’s License and dependable transportation. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including experience creating tables, charts, graphs, pivot tables and formulas. Basic math skills to perform arithmetic, calculate percentages and amounts based on percentage changes. Above average analytical, problem‑solving and planning‑organizational skills essential. Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods; use of office equipment such as fax, copy machines and telephones. Work performed in a typical interior office environment. Benefits Competitive base salary range: $41,200 to $76,800, based on experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education and applicable minimum wage requirements. Potential performance‑based incentives may apply.
