Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Telemetry unit, providing care to adult and geriatric patients. This role requires a professional capable of managing complex patient populations, including those with various cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for patients with diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Myocardial Infarction (MI), dysrhythmias, and sepsis.
• Monitor patient vital signs and telemetry readings, responding to changes in patient condition promptly.
• Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and established protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on diagnosis, treatment options, and health maintenance.

Patient Population

The ideal candidate will work with a diverse patient population comprising adults to geriatrics, addressing their unique healthcare needs.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required (National Institutes of Health certification preferred).
• Proficiency in electronic health records is essential, specifically experience with Epic.

Unit Information

• The Telemetry unit follows a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4-5, with 36 rooms and an average daily census of 35 patients.
• Common patient conditions treated include pulmonary embolism (PE), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pleural effusion, and hypertension.
• Utilization of SBAR for effective communication and Pyxis for medication management.

Work Schedule

This position requires availability for day shifts, including 3 12-hour shifts per week, with a commitment to working every other weekend. Candidates should be open to floating within the facility as needed.

Orientation and Compliance

Full compliance with required certifications is necessary for timely onboarding. Should compliance not be met, orientation may be delayed by up to two weeks due to the bi-weekly schedule.

Holidays

This role may require working major holidays, with expectations outlined based on the number of holidays occurring during the assignment period.

Uniform Requirements

Scrub color is navy blue for all shifts.
