Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical specialty provides skilled nursing care to patients in an acute care setting. The role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The nurse is expected to float within the facility as needed and maintain strong communication and clinical skills with at least 2 years of recent acute care experience. Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Provide skilled nursing care in accordance with facility protocols and standards.
• Float within the facility as required, including mid-shift reassignments.
• Document patient care and clinical observations accurately using Cerner charting system.
• Respond to patient needs and emergencies promptly and effectively.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical nursing.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• NIHSS certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma Center environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.
• Prior experience floating across multiple units within a hospital setting.
• Local candidates within a 75-mile radius preferred.

Special Considerations:

• Mandatory float facility: all nursing staff must be prepared to float at the facility's discretion, including mid-shift.
• No block scheduling; shift assignments are 3 twelve-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Weekend work required every other weekend (2 weekends per month).
• Return to Office (RTO) policy allows maximum 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days off.
• No RTO allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after holidays.
• Scrub color is flexible; scrubs are not provided.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Shift schedule includes every other weekend coverage.
